Kansas Flint Hills Pasture Burning on the Cowley Farm - Spring 2008
Not familiar with the practice of Prairie Burning? Here is a great website that goes into it in detail:

The Cowley's were kind enough to accommodate my interest in this ritual which dates back to the Native Americans. While the principle is the same, the technique has come a long way. It was obvious, even to laymen like me; Mr. Cowley knew what he was doing. He has the process down to a science. Armed with the knowledge, proper equipment and assistance, he was able to safely burn quite a bit of pasture land with a minimal amount of drama.
I hope you enjoy the photos I took. Special thanks to the Cowley's for letting me tag along and take them.
PS Note the drop-down box to the left of the screen called <<album actions>>. That will give you options for a SlideShow and Comments.
